Chronic thrush from “sex” finally solved! It’s been 6 years!!

My husband and I have had a very trying sex life over the past few years. I chronically get horrible BV and yeast infections after we have sex... every time. I've been to see multiple OB/GYNs and they all recommend the same things (wash/clean beforehand, pee straight afterwards - both of which are awesome mood killers BTW, only wear cotton panties, low sugar diets, etc etc etc.) It's gotten to be that I don't ever want to have sex because I know what's coming the next day and my husband feels like it's his fault and that he's “unclean”.

This past week was our anniversary and we went away for a few nights. I forgot to pack lube...and I miraculously didn't get an infection for the first time in...6 years!?!? Came home this week, had sex and got a yeast infection and something suddenly clicked. A quick google search confirmed it. Most common lubricants (cough KY) contain glycerin which is basically sugar. HOW HAS NO DOCTOR EVER TOLD ME OR RECOMMENDED THIS!?!?

HOW HAS NO DOCTOR EVER TOLD ME OR RECOMMENDED THIS!?!? My question, while reading.
I'm a doctor and I'm not going to defend the OP's consultant. Had the doctor taken history and knew about KY Jelly, it should've been on his/her checklist of suspicious products causing infection but at the same time I'd also like to add that doctors are human too. Things can slip from mind. A puffy, pre opened tube would have certainly arouse suspicion but lube is such a common to use product that it might have slipped the physician's mind as a suspect. That the particular brand contains Glycerine and it can cause problems might have slipped since it regularly doesn't cause probelms for majority. I often recommend people who have chronic/recurrent problems which they 'feel' should be resolved to seek a second opinion. Often things which one physician misses can be instantly suspected by another physician as the second physician can clearly see what isn't working for the patient and focuses on factors which haven't been considered. Factors which might have become normalised for the first physician. And yes, unlike what other comments suggest, doctors are taught preventive medicine. From where I belong, we have an entire subject called Social & Preventive Medicine. Edit: As it has been commented by OP, the fact that lube was used never came up with the physicians at all. I am sure they wanted to rule out most probable caused first and while doing so the fact that a sex product is causing infection of private parts might have never occurred to them. OPs case has potential to become an episode of House MD. (Also edited a spelling.) Lastly, as mentioned in another comment, I'm not defending anyone here. I've been on both sides myself. I'm just having a genuine conversation.
The issue is having to spend so much money every time you want an "experts" opinion who may 1) not really be such an expert for your problem after all or 2) not care enough to do any research for you. An ex girlfriend of mine had to see 3 different doctors before finally being correctly diagnosed for her cushings disease and it cost money every time an expert told her she was "worried about nothing and just eating too much". This process took over a year and a half and the damage to her body was done by that point. Some doctors truly are deserving of the privileged position society gives them. Others are just lazy and collect insurance money as fast as possible.
Sorry for your ex... However that's exactly why EVERY European country has a PUBLIC health insurance. Some candidates for President where promising this type of insurance ... In Germany i can visit as much doctors as i wish, without any personal payment from me. We dont regularly spend days visiting as much doctors as possible ... However if any problem cant be solved by one for some time we simply try if some other doctors find our problem. When surgeries are suggested by doctors the insurance even recommends visiting at least two doctors about the issue before really doing surgeries...
