To narrow down the best G-spot vibrators to only the cream of the crop, Glamour reviewers and experts evaluated more than 300 options. We used each option multiple times, evaluating them on the following criteria:

Design and function: The G-spot generally responds well to firm pressure, according to licensed clinical social worker and sex therapist Shamyra Howard, PhD. With that, we evaluated whether or not the vibrator was shaped in such a way that made it easy to apply the requisite pressure.

Ease of use: We considered how intuitive the button interface was, as well as how easy (or hard) it was to switch between different settings in the middle of play. We also considered how comfortable the toy was to hold and finagle into position.

Battery life: Nothing interrupts masturbation quite like the battery of a toy crapping out halfway through use. As part of the test, we timed how long a toy took to lose charge at its highest intensity. Any toy that ran out of juice before the one-hour mark got nixed.

Noise level: Many vibrators claim to be whisper-quiet, but few actually deserve that accolade. As part of testing, we researched the vibes’ reported decibel levels, as well as made notes of our experience with the noise. The G-spot’s location and definition are complicated. It’s hard to say where the Gräfenberg spot (named for the gynecologist Ernst Gräfenberg, a sexual health pioneer who first described the anatomical feature in 1950) is precisely, since all vaginas are different and there’s no agreed-upon location in the body. “There are a few different ways to use G-spot vibrators,” says Javay Frye-Nekrasova, MEd, a sex educator and expert at sex-toy retailer Adorime. Use is dependent on the specific design and shape of the G-spot toy in question, she says. Many G-spot wands are curved, and simply lubing the toy up and sliding it inside will enable it to locate and massage the G-spot. You can also find dual-stimulating toys, like rabbit vibrators, which target both the G-spot and clitoris at once.

“While there are people who can climax from just G-spot stimulation, only a very small percentage say they orgasm most reliably from vaginal stimulation alone, and the rest most reliably orgasm from either clitoral stimulation or combining clitoral and vaginal stimulation,” Laurie Mintz, PhD, a sex educator and author of Becoming Cliterate, explains. “I recommend purchasing G-spot vibrators that also stimulate the clitoris. Then, subsequently, if the person finds that they don’t need or like the accompanying clitoral stimulation, they could just try a G-spot vibrator.”

Yes! There are a few caveats, though. Before using a vibrator internally—including as an anal toy for indirect G-spot stimulation or direct prostate stimulation, for example—make sure it’s intended for internal use. If you experience any pain or discomfort, don’t push on, as your pick might not be the right size or shape for your unique anatomy. Any toy you use in the anus must have a flared base so that it doesn't get stuck.
